What age are the courses designed for?

Anybody can take one of our courses and be successful, regardless of age! We have taught very young children as well as seasoned adults!

While very young children can learn to play the violin, with an online violin course we recommend that children be at least 5 years of age in order to start. With younger children (age 5 up to roughly age 12), consistent, daily, hands on learning and practice help from a parent or caregiver is strongly recommended for best results, until the child has the maturity and experience necessary to navigate the online lessons and practice on their own.

Are these live, online lessons?

This course is not designed for live-streamed, real time lessons between the student and teacher. Instead, we have taken our many years of teaching experience and broken our curriculum down into a layered, step-by-step approach that is available as a video course. You will have everything you need to learn available in video format that you can access and practice along with as many times as needed to become proficient.

Can I get help or feedback from a teacher?

Yes! Our Mastery Package includes the option to submit videos and/or questions to us. If you select this package, you will get helpful, specific feedback on what is going well in your playing, as well as what you can do to improve and progress.

Can I really learn to play if I am a brand new beginner?

Yes! Brand new beginners with no violin experience or even musical experience at all can learn to play! This course is designed to take you through every layer of learning to play the violin.

What type of violin curriculum do you teach?

We were both born and raised on the Suzuki method. Although we enjoy playing and teaching many pieces outside of the Suzuki repertoire, this course will primarily focus on the Suzuki method and books, as it can stand alone as a thorough, comprehensive curriculum without anything additional. However, we also offer our unique note reading course that is available with any package option you choose, as well as many pieces of (non-Suzuki) original violin sheet music available on our SHOP page.

What if I already have some violin experience?

This course is for you! No matter which package you purchase, you will have full access to our entire course of videos, and you can start the course anywhere you would like based on your past violin experience. If you need help assessing where would be best for you start, please reach out and we would be happy to help find the best starting point for you.

What do I need to start the course?

No matter which package you select, please have the following ready when you begin the course:

A device with high speed internet to access the course videos
A violin and bow in good condition. Please let a music store that specializes in string instruments, or a luthier, help you find a violin that is the appropriate size. Having the right size violin makes a big difference in playing well and avoiding poor posture habits. Most stores give the option to either rent or purchase an instrument.
A shoulder rest of your choice. Again, a violin store can help you try different options. This will be important fo you to be able to hold your violin properly.
Rosin: a crucial accessory for your bow that will help you produce quality sound on your instrument
Suzuki violin books for your current level and corresponding CD or streaming option to listen to recordings

Optional:

A notebook or other format for taking notes as needed throughout the video lessons
Note reading books available for purchase on our site

How much do the courses cost?

Depending on your needs and goals, we have four different package options, and we are confident that there is one that will suit your needs best. We also have several free and/or individual courses available. See our COURSES page for detailed information on each option.

How do I cancel my subscription? Do you offer refunds?

You can cancel your monthly subscription any time, no questions asked. Your access to the videos and other course content will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. However, we do not offer refunds once a purchase is made, nor do we offer partial refunds for unused time within a billing month.

In order to cancel your subscription, simply log into your account and head to your Billing. From there, follow the prompts to cancel your subscription.
